Hi Everybody!
Welcome back. Most of the tourists have, thankfully, now gone so its now possible to park the car. For those who stayed here IN Spain, we hope you had good time and enjoyed the hot, dry weather.
FMB 4TH JULY BAR-B-QUE.
OUR JULY 4TH BARBEQUE WAS A HUGE SUCCESS and the food was very good. Thanks to SIMON, DAWN AND BEV OF THE CARRIBBEAN BAR in Carvajal.
We had a good crowd of people and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the United States Consular Agent, Bobbye Aaron for reading out the President´s 4th of July message.
It was TROY DAVIS´S 85th birthday on July 1st so we celebrated this with him. Thanks to member, JANE HALLETT for making such a superb birthday cake. Congratulations to Troy from all FMB members.

Thanks to Troy for the following additional comments:
"It was a great time--good food prepared by the illustrious staff of the Royal Caribbean and included foot loosening music and a fine oration by our Consul Representative. Troy was honored with a special card autographed by many of the guests. The cake for remember those 85 years was special CARROT CAKE from a special recipe that included raisins and a variety of tasty nuts. The Caribbean has (for the interested) fine apple cider too. The weather was perfect--the guests were well dressed for this great day, one of two we Americans celebrate and the menu--FIRST CLASS B-B-Q. Let us hope that Don David expresses our gratitude and MAYBE WE'LL RETURN.......NEXT YEAR. Recuerdos— Troy “
Please also remember THE HOSPITALITY DESK at the MANILA BAR, PASEO MARITIMO, LOS BOLICHES will re-open on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND 2011 from 11.30 am to 1 pm. We look forward to seeing members and their friends.

FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE MIJAS,
MIJAS PUEBLO 11TH and 12TH JUNE 2011
The American Club of the Costa del Sol cooperated with the SOROPTOMISTS INTERNATIONAL CLUB, COSTA del SOL (which are part of a worldwide organisation of professional women) in organising a USA stall at the Festival Internacional de Mijas at Mijas Pueblo from June 10th to June 12th 2011. The Central Board of the American Club covered the fee from the Ayuntamiento de Mijas for the stall.
Most of the work at the stall was out by the ladies of the Soroptomists and included
the Fuengirola US Consular Representative, Bobbye Aaron.
Some FMB members - David Kylen, Patricia Gray, Sue Ann Perez and Your Editor helped where necessary and sold US / Spanish Friendship pins and small USA flags. They also met the recently elected Mayor of Mijas and had an enjoyable time visiting the other stalls at the Festival. See attached photographs

We have heard from Dr. Jenny van der Mark, who organised the stall for the Soroptomists that after expenses the stall, made €1625 to be donated to "adimi", ASOCIACION de DISCAPACITADOS MIJENOS (Association of Disabled Mijas Residents).
Congratulations to the Soroptomists for a running such a successful stall and a big thanks for letting the American Club of the Costa del Sol participate.
