The Hospitality Desk is open every Friday from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm at the Manila Café on the Paseo Maritimo, Los Boliches. We always go for a nice lunch afterwards at a nearby restaurante - usually the Kon Tiki. Everybody is welcome - members and non-members.
FMB CHAPTER MEETING, REGINA´S RESTAURANTE, FUENGIROLA PORT on APRIL 12TH 2011
The meeting was called to order at 11.45 hours by President, David Kylen. The Minutes of the last meeting and the Treasurer’s Report was read out and approved by the members present. David presented guest speakers from two local buinesses.
Our first was from VOM FASS, a shop located in the heart of Fuengirola at CALLE MARBELLA 6, where you can find a wide selection of exclusive specialties from around the world; these can be tasted in the shop before buying. There are exquisite spirits, tasty vinegars and select.
A selection of some of the oils and vinegars were given to members at the meeting; everybody agreed they were very good.

Our second was from MEGA MOBILE, a company that provided a system whereby it was possible to make long distance calls from mobile telephone up to 70% cheaper than existing mobile telephone operators; this done by inserting a small dialler provided by Mega Mobile on the existing telephone Sim card. David then announced that on Thursday, May 19th 2011 there will a SPRING GARDEN PARTY and 37TH AMERICAN CLUB ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION for all Chapters. It will held at an old favourite of ours, THE VALPARAISO RESTAURANTE, MIJAS. Details of the menu can be found on the American Club Website Home Page. Further details including prices are shown below in “Dates for your Diary”. A subsidy of 5 euros will given to any paid up FMB member providing the booking is
PRE PAID.
Sue Ann Perez Fajardo said lapel pins with the crossed flags of Spain and the USA were now available from her for 2 euros each. She also said that these would be on sale at the forthcoming 37th Anniversary lunch on May 19th and the Mijas International Day in Mijas on June 10th & 11th.
The meeting closed at 1255 pm and members adjourned for lunch.
EASTER LUNCH WITH ESTEPONA CHAPTER MEMBERS, 21ST APRIL 2011.
Estepona Chapter kindly invited FMB members to their Easter lunch at the El Caserio Restaurante on the A7 road in Estepona. Patricia Gray, Gay Nyssen, Ann Hedefine and your Editor attended. We had a fantastic time - the food was excellent, the restaurante elegant and the company extremely friendly. We thank everybody there, especially Joanne and Brian Wynne-Hughes, Pamela Becque and Frazier and Andree Gardella for making us so welcome and making the lunch such a happy occasion.
CHAPTER LUNCH AT THE SALAMANCA RESTAURANTE, 24TH MARCH 2011
An excellent monthly Chapter lunch was served at the Salamanca Restaurant in the heart of Fuengirola on Calle de Capitan. It was well atended and we have thank the staff for the good food and attentive service.
FERIA INTERNACIONAL DE LOS PUEBLOS FUENGIROLA 2011.
Juan Carlos Molina and Martin Wood of REVIVAL DISCO SHOWS - www.costadeldisco.com kindly invited FMB to participate in the AMERICAN CASETA that they organised for the Fuengirola International Feria from APRIL 29TH TO MAY 2ND . Various FMB members manned a desk during those days selling lapel pins and giving information about the American Club. Thanks to David Kylen, Patricia Gray, Kirsten Melgaard, Gay Nyssen, Jan Simpson and especially to Sue Ann Perez Fajardo for taking the time to man the desk. Also to all other FMB members who came to support the event.
The Caseta was generally considered by all who attended the Feria to be the best. It had continuous American style food, drink and entertainment featuring Line Dancers, Disco Dancers, Cheer Leaders and various artists performing Country and Western music and the music of Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Meatloaf, Cher, Billy Joel and Michael Jackson.
Congratulations to Juan Carlos, Martin and their team for organising such a fun event.
NEWS ABOUT TONY PEREZ FAJARDO
We are pleased to report that Tony is now at home and is recovering well from his recent major operation. Many thanks for his help at the American Caseta; it was good to see him. His wife, Sue Ann would to thank all the people who called her when here husband was in hospital.
NEWS ABOUT BARBARA OLDRIDGE
Unfortunately Barbara recently fractured her knee in a fall and her leg is now in plaster. It was good to see her at the recent lunch. We all hope she will soon be fully mobile again and able to join in the fun at the forthcoming Valparaiso lunch
