We Were All American (for one night at least)

What timing this California (LA) girl had to move and settle in the Costa del Sol with her Swedish husband. Not only, we were fortunate enough to find out about the club, get enlisted by the one and only Joanne, attend the most chic White Party at fellow members John & Henry's Cortijo Vizcaronda BUT be here for the 4th of July BBQ put on by the club.

When my husband and I arrived at the BBQ, I was a bit speechless (which is quite a fete for this one). Speechless, proud, and grateful to be an American, to see fellow Americans celebrate our Independence Day (in Spain..), and especially to see the non American expats celebrate our holiday with respect, fun and laughter.

It was very touching to see the US flags scattered about and everything, and everyone red white and blue. Having just become new members, we saw some familiar faces and met amazing new ones as well.

But the highlight for me....sorry Brian for your cd not working, was when Danny  (a fellow new American member with his wife Melissa) spontanteously and most spine tingling, saved the musical glitch, and sang the national anthem. So thank you to all for making this a most memorable first 4th of July for me in Spain. Thank you for embracing the holiday, for making us feel at home, and especially a big thank you to ALL who stood up (which was in fact, ALL in attendance) during the national anthem.

As tears were coming down, I knew two things for sure. I was proud to be an American and I was so grateful and happy that my husband and I have found the perfect new place to call home.

Special
Thanks
go to the Team from Chiringuito Floria (Peter, Paco, Jaap, Alfred and all the girls behind the scenes)....everyone said the food was fantastic!  Also thanks to Mitch who entertained us with his music.

On the Estepona Team thanks go to Pamela for organizing the event, Brian for assisting her and putting up the decorations with the help of Stella and her friend, and of course, Frazier and Andree  for making our Flag Cake and Stella for her coleslaw.   And how about those sparklers supplied by our very own Mary O'Reagan!  Who will ever forget Danny's beautiful American Anthem...we thank you Danny for jumping in at the last minute.  Last but not least, a huge "Thank You" to all that attended and helped to make this another Estepona July 4th to remember!  For more photos of this wonderful celebration, take a look at the Photo Gallery HERE
