The gleaming white, German Robot perched on our marble kitchen top was ready to pulverize, grind, cut up, beat, liquidize, coagulate, or knead any type of food we had in the larder. The machine was programmed to cook, boil, blend or steam the ingredients to prepare any culinary dish we so desired. The only problem was that we needed someone to come and show us how this kitchen wizard worked. The Vorwerk Thermomix may be an expensive appliance, but it comes, not only with an extensive recipe book, but also with an appointment for the visit of a qualified instructress to demonstrate the impressive capabilities of this wonderful piece of German engineering.

Believe this, or believe it not, but the person who turned up to show us how to use our Thermomix, was non-other than the daughter of the cousin of my wife Mercedes. Not only that, but she was taught how to demonstrate the apparatus in the U.K., where one of our illustrious chapter members – Pamela Becque - worked for quite a number of years as an important administrative member of the Vorwerk Company U.K. and who trained many demonstrators. Tupperware also had the privilege of utilizing the charm and P.R. abilities of Pamela before she moved to Spain. This move was good for us, as ever since our chapter was founded, we have had the benefits of Pamela’s organizational faculties. For many years, the venue for our luncheon meetings, special events etc. have been arranged and supervised under her experienced eye.

Pamela Becque, née Fee, was born within sight of the hallowed turf of Wembley (London). She is proud of her London heritage - her parents being true Cockneys, living within the sound of Bow Bells. The family moved to Hayes, Middlesex, where Pamela grew up. Later, she met and married Tony Becque, with whom she had five children, Unfortunately one died in a tragic accident. However, time moves on, and Pamela is now living in Sabinillas, quite happily, surrounded by her many friends. And I can assure you, that her social calendar is very active and completely full. As was and is now, you have to book an appointment to see Pamela.
