We wish all of our Malaga Club members
and all American Club Members a VERY  HAPPY  EASTER

April Luncheon – Thursday, 8th

For our April ‘Spring Timeluncheon, we have chosen a new restaurant with a very special & different venue for this month’s luncheon.  The restaurant, a venta, named ‘Reyes’, is up in the village of Moclinejo, which is located in the hills above Rincon de le Victoria (see driving directions below).  We can also visit the wine museum which is conveniently situated in the village square just a few meters away from the restaurant.  This luncheon will be something a little different and totally "local". Guests are always welcome. Luncheon price is €16 (including tip) for both members & guests. Transportation can be arranged if you so require. Call Rosella to make a reservation before Tuesday, 6th with your menu selection.  Time will be earlier than normal – 12:00 for 12:15 pm. We look forward to seeing you all in Moclinejo, which, in case you are unaware, is the village   where our member the painter, Julia Wells lives.

Directions to Venta Moclinejo
From the Autovia, take the exit for Rincon de la Victoria & turn right downhill to the Dolphin round-a-bout, turn left (go 3/4 of the way around) onto Ctra del Benagalbon / MA-3200.   After the second entrance to Benagalbon, the road bears left toward and onto MA3119.  Continue for approx. 5 Km to Moclinejo.  The main entrance to the village is undergoing road works and in any case there would be a longer walk,   we recommend going to the back entrance, which is a little further up the road.  We will have someone there to show you the way.

           On a Very Sad Note:

Beryl (nee Jaffney) Pearce   * 19 June 1925  -  30 May 2010

Beryl´s parents were childhood friends from Fall River, Massachusetts.   Her father moved to Ohio where he was an engineer with the Goodyear company.  He convinced Beryl´s mother to marry him and move to Ohio where Beryl was born.  She worked in the design department of Goodyear during the war years. In 1948 her father was made Chief Engineer of the plant in England near Wolverhampton.   Beryl studied at the Catholic University in Washington D.C. and became a nurse.   As a graduation present her parents took her to England where her mother had made friends with Ian Pearce´s mother and that is how Beryl met her husband.   Ian and Beryl were married in 1951 and had five children, Mary, Gregory, Edmund, Robert and Joseph.   Ian and Beryl used to come to Spain on holidays and when he retired in 1989, they bought a house near Periana.   She is survived by their five children and nine grandchildren and was looking forward to the arrival of the first great-grandchild due in September.  Rest in Peace Beryl, you will be missed by your friends in the Malaga chapter.  There will be a memorial Mass at Lux Mundi in Torre del Mar on Saturday 10th April at 5.00 p.m.
