Lets start this month with news about changes to the FMB Board of Directors
FMB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING, MANILA CAFE, 5TH FEBRUARY 2010
On January 12th 2010, Raouf Ridha, announced his retirement and resigned as Treasurer of the American Club - FMB Chapter. As no candidates had come forward to fill the Treasurer´s position, your Editor offered to take it; this was proposed to the Board by David Kylen and accepted unanimously by all the members.
David then proposed that Charles Powell take the position as FMB secretary from your Editor; this was again accepted by the Board.
The Board unanimously gave a vote of thanks to Raouf for the excellant way he has taken care of the finances of the Chapter during his tenure as Treasurer.
As Raouf announced his and his wife Dalal´s intention to transfer to the Marbella Chapter, the position of FMB Vice President had become vacant. Gay Nyssen kindly offered to take the position.
The date of the next Board meeting was set for Friday, February 6th, 2010 at the Manila Cafe
FMB CHAPTER MEETING, REGINA´S BAR, FUENGIROLA PORT, 9TH FEBRUARY 2010
The meeting was called to order at 11:30 hours by David Kylen, the President.
The minutes of the last meeting were read out by Charles Powell and your Editor, the new Treasurer, then read out the Treasurers´ report; both these were approved by the members present.
We were glad to welcome June Whitton back in charge of Entertainment after her recent fall. She thanked Patricia Gray and other Board members for organising the Valentine´s Day lunch on February 14th at the Suavre Restaurant.
June said she had arranged a "Country and Western Night" with Entertainment

Members were then informed of the recent changes to the FMB Board of Directors; details of which are given above.

AMERICAN CLUB OF THE COSTA DEL SOL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, 10TH FEBRUARY 2010

This took place at the Dionysos Greek Taverna, Fuengirola. The membership present unanimously passed the rotation of the Central Board Presidency alphabetically among the Chapters; the Chapter appointee need only be a fully paid up member holding United States Citizenship.
Frazier Gardella of Estepona was confirmed as the new President of the Central Board for the forthcoming year; the other officers being: Vice President - David Kylen, Secretary - Brian Wynne-Hughes, Treasurer - Charles Powell, Website Editor - Joanne Wynne-Hughes, Parliamentarian - Rosella Parmiter, The position of Business Manager is still vacant.
Our own founding member Troy Davis received the first ever Paul Castelle Award for his services to the American Club and the American community on the Costa Del Sol. The award was presented by the American Consular Agent, Bobbye Aaron, together with a letter of thanks and congratulation from the United States Ambassador in Madrid. The home page of this website shows a photograph of Troy with the award together with Troy´s message of thanks. We all offer our congratulations to Troy. After the AGM we all adjorned for lunch at the Taverna.
VALENTINES DAY LUNCH AT SUAVE RESTAURANT, 14TH FEBRUARY 2010.
Despite the cold wet day there was good turn out for the Valentine´s Day lunch
at the Suavre Restaurant, Los Boliches. Everybody had a good time and the wine flowed freely.

June and Phil have gone away for a short holiday from February 21st to March 3rd. We wish them a nice break and hope the weather is kind to them !
NEWS ABOUT DONNA PORTEOUS
Donna is still recuperating in SanyRes, Benalmadena after her recent successful knee operation. We hope to hear soon that she has returned home.
ITALIAN NIGHT AT THE VALAPARAISO RESTAURANTE, 23RD FEBRUARY 2010.
Our own David Kylen and Patricia Gray organised an Italian Night at the Valparaiso Restaurante, Mijas Costa. It was well attended and we were pleased to welcome members from the Marbella, Malaga and Estepona Chapters. A good night was had by all and we have to thank Raffaelle and his staff for once again excelling themselves.
Unfortunately Patricia Gray was unable to attend due to being struck down by the gastric flu bug currently going round. We all hope she has now made a good recovery.
