Frazier Gardella with Cristina Silva, outgoing President 2009-2010

As your new President/Chairman of the American Club, I will have a full schedule of work to keep the momentum of growth, as well as steering the club in new directions. All of this, of course, is keeping our Club’s mission in mind. There are 3 key items I will be working on with our Central Board members.

•  I have selected a sub-committee to work on filing for Federation status for the American Club of the Costa del Sol. We will be working on Constitution/By-Laws for our organization. This committee represents all the Chapters with Gordon Burgin for Malaga, Charles Powell for FMB, Carin Maes for Marbella and I for Estepona. Charles Powell is Chairman of this sub-committee and we are looking forward to our first meeting in March. Rosella Parmiter, our Parliamentarian for 2010, is gathering the documents that will be necessary for filing Federation status. We will report back to the CB on our progress.

•  I will be contacting each chapter to appoint a spokesman to meet and help plan at least three joint Chapter events in 2010. Our most successful joint yearly event arranged by the FMB Chapter is our Thanksgiving in November. This is usually attended by two to three hundred members and guests.

•  This year if we have excess funds, we need to agree on a Charity to which we should donate these funds. This is going to be discussed at our next CB meeting. Bobbye Aaron, our Consular Agent, holds some funds from our American Club for emergency help to Americans in need. An example of this is an American tourist who was robbed, lost her passport and all her money and our funds helped to get her home to the USA.  We will continue to subsidize these funds when needed.

It is so important for the continued growth of our membership that all our Chapters are working in harmony. Each Chapter has the following persons representing you, the members, at our CB meeting. There is your elected Chapter President, your elected American representative and your elected Associate representative. They speak at the CB meeting on your behalf.

In addition, with regards to the Summons reported in the outgoing President’s Report above, as your new President I appointed a Central Board member for any translations from the court in Spanish that we may need to report. We have been instructed by our two legal councils not to discuss this with anyone until it has been ended.

I would like to thank all the Central Board members, Chapter officers, and those who work relentlessly behind the scene to make the American Club of the Costa del Sol so successful over the past 36 years. All are devoting their time for the benefit of our membership. Let’s make 2010 the best year yet.

Many thanks for all your support,
Frazier Gardella
