WELCOME NEW MEMBERS TO THE MARBELLA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We welcome new members to the Marbella Board, Valerie Houben, Secretary and Linda Maybaum as Treasurer. They were appointed by the Board to fill in the vacancies left by Laurie Taylor and Angret Moeller who resigned their posts. We thank Laurie and Angret for their contribution and work on behalf of the Chapter and welcome Valerie and Linda to the Marbella Board of Director.
October was a busy month. We had a lovely lunch at Restaurante Da Pino on the paseo, enjoying Pino´s hospitality and nice food while enjoying the beautiful view. Many thanks to Carol Lewis-Giles for taking the reservations and helping us to find an alternate location when Restaurante Don Miguel closed on us without telling anyone.
The 4th International Film Festival in Marbella gave us a chance to welcome William Shatner and his wife Elizabeth as they presented their film Gonzo Ballet. The American Club issued a warm personal welcome and escorted them throughout the event.

American Rodeo came to town and the American Club was there to support and welcome our real American cowboys and cowgirls. A full house greeted the group to the bullring in Marbella, with a large contingent of American Club members from Estepona and Marbella holding up our US flag, and cheering the stunts and the riders. The audience loved the rodeo, a first in Spain, on their first European tour.
Several members participated in the talks held by the Town Hall with the Council members of Marbella responsible for specific areas of the town.
We held a Dinner and Drinks night on Oct. 28th at Restaurante Casa Rentero, where nominations sent in by our members for Marbella Board Officers 2010 were tallied and announced by George Hoffmeier. Candidates had an opportunity to speak and make themselves known. We thank George and Valerie Houben for their help with the nominations and many thanks to Jackie Dietrich for taking reservations for us. The dinner and the value were excellent, and everyone commented on the warm reception we received at Casa Rentero by owner and new member Jose Brioso, of Miami. All the wine consumed was offered as a courtesy of the house.
A large group of Marbella Chapter members joined Conde Rudi and the German community in the celebration of
German Reunification Day
Theater and Tapas Night was cancelled as only six members signed up for this event.
