Please note:  An important date for your calendar is 11th of June....Our Last Luncheon before the summer (July & August) break!

Congradulation to the Fuengirola AC  for hosting a very successful and grand American Club 35th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon on May 21st at the Valparaiso Restaurant in Fuengirola.  Representing our club at the luncheon (from left to right in the photo) were Lorenzo & Josephine von Hofler, Karin Symes-Newmann & Klaus Newmann, Janet Maker, Gordon Burgin, Edith Davidsen and Rosella Parmiter.  Karin was the only lucky one at our table to win a door prize.

Take a look at the photos of the day HERE!

On the 6th of June, the celebration will be at the beautiful Don Carlos Hotel in Marbella. This will be a special evening celebration with a buffet meal, music, dancing and tons of other anniversary festivities. The cost will be €35 for AC members & €45 for guests (for more detail, check with Rosella).

Our national Independence Day celebration will be, naturally, on 4th of July.  This will consist of a traditional American feast and possibly fireworks.  As soon as this location and full details are determined, you will be informed.

A new museum was inaugurated in Malaga on 26th May with the presence of the Mayor, D. Francisco de la Torre and will open to the public on 1st June. The Museum of Glass and Crystal is located in a beautiful old building which used to house the Posada de San Felipe Neri in the historic old town. The Museum is located in front of the Church of San Felipe Neri. The totally renovated building has been decorated with paintings and furnishings belonging to one of the old Spanish Grandee families and has examples of stained glass windows and glass from all periods of history; from Roman times through to mid 20th Cent.

The curator is Professor Ian Phillips of St. Johns College, Cambridge University  U.K.   Visits will be by appointment and guided.   There is also a charming garden area which has been set up for catered events i.e. receptions, weddings etc.  This would make a delightful visit in Malaga and anyone wishing to see this new and exciting venture should call:
952 22 19 49 or contact Rosella for more information.

Anyone wanting to have a day trip into Malaga to visit the historic English Cemetery please note that Rosella conducts guided tours for individuals and groups.   There is a small fee which goes towards the maintenance of the cemetery.   Contact Rosella for more info or to make a reservation.
