More than 60 members made their way on Wednesday, 14th March, to the Annual General Meeting of the American Club of the Costa del Sol, held at the Rincon Sol Hotel, in Rincon de la Victoria.

The staff, by now well practised in looking after us, more than justified their enviable reputation for speed, efficiency and courtesy. Even those members who arrived early for the Board of Directors meeting, which preceded the larger gathering, were warmly greeted and treated as long-lost friends.

When the meeting was eventually opened and even the late-comers had been found seats in the large assembly room facing the sea, a hush spread through the hall as the platform party of directors was joined by the day's guests of honour - Mr. Daniel Keller, the American Consul General, and Ms. Bobbye Aaron, the latter not only the Consular Representative here on the coast but a long-time Club member.

The previous Minutes were read by Secretary Gillian Tarry, and were adopted unanimously.

Our guests were then warmly welcomed by President Rosella Parmiter, who invited Mr. Keller to address the meeting. He stressed the importance of Americans abroad registering with the Consulate in Madrid, or via the website:

More easily, registration could take place at the Costa del Sol  Consular Agency in Fuengirola. He went on to outline some of the very necessary functions of the Madrid office in supporting US citizens in Spain and paid tribute to the work undertaken by Bobbye Aaron locally.

President Rosella thanked her guests, and commented warmly about the new website; she also thanked friends for their condolences on her recent bereavement and for the many members who had supported her by attending her late husband's memorial service.

Treasurer David Kylen urged those present to not forget the renewal of their membership, which would expire at the end of the month.

The meeting then turned to the items detailed on the Agenda, before enjoying an excellent lunch. Complete Minutes of this event will be made available as soon as possible.
